Our Activities
The Cub Initiative
The World Needs More Engineers
81 percent of FIRST alumni eventually major in a STEM-based field, with over 75 percent majoring in engineering or computer science. We founded and mentored two FLL teams at our local middle schools: the Titanium Cubs and Platinum Cubs.
We secured $3,000 through local grant applications to fund these teams. Despite starting late in the season, both teams showed incredible innovation — one team explored AR-glasses while the other used 3D printing.
The Platinum Cubs earned the “Gracious Professionalism Award” at their competition. Both teams became self-sustaining, recycling parts and supplies for future seasons.
23-24 Season: Centerstage

During the 2023-24 Centerstage season, our team designed and built our robot “Tyler Jack” to compete in the FIRST Tech Challenge. Tasks included placing pixels on a backdrop, launching paper airplanes (drones), and suspending the robot in the air during the endgame.
22-23 Season: Power Play
Our inaugural competitive season saw the team learn the fundamentals of robot design, programming, and teamwork. The Power Play season involved cone stacking challenges and signal sleeve recognition.

Community Initiatives
Trunk-Or-Treat
Our annual community tradition started in 2022. Children wear costumes and learn about high school activities while receiving candy from decorated trunks. The 2023 event drew over 250 children with 20+ clubs participating.
Holiday Heroes
Through the KVC Holiday Heroes program, our team provided gifts for children in the Kansas child welfare system.
Homecoming Parade
Our team marched in the BVHS homecoming parade with robotics signage, raising awareness for STEM programs.
Cub Scout Showcase
We displayed our 2022 robot and a VEX robot to Cub Scout Troop #3476 in December 2022, inspiring the next generation of builders.
FTC Meet Hosting
We hosted two FTC meets on January 20, 2024 at Blue Valley High School — MOKS-KS KC-WEST at 8 AM and KC-EAST at 1 PM. 90% of our team filled volunteer positions.
Community Mentors
Jason Hagen
MIT graduate and local repair shop owner. Helps our team with electrical work, soldering, and wire management.
Alex Diaz
Student mentor from FRC Team #2410. Provides training on tool usage and Fusion 360 CAD design.
Looking Ahead
We're planning offseason training in Java, CAD, and community outreach. Our upcoming initiatives include the STEAM Carnival and a Global Robotics Exchange Program connecting teams in Kansas City, Morocco, and Libya.
